Last week I returned from my very first visit to the island of Jamaica.....and I have to say I would go back right now if I could! I traveled there to photograph a wedding, but was able to stay a few extra days to enjoy the resort and see a bit of the island. Here is an image I captured while eating dinner one night.......lots more to come!
Well - in about a month I will be packing my bags once again to visit Tybee Island, Georgia. Every 2 years I travel there with a group of certified photographers from around the state of Iowa, and we have a fantastic time! Off the coast of Savannah just 15 miles, Tybee is an uncommercialized island that boasts both history and a beautiful beach. Here are a few images from the last trip I took there - can't wait to explore more in another month!
Each winter the Professional Photographers of Iowa hold their annual convention in Des Moines. For 5 days we can listen to a wide variety of speakers, go through the trade show, and enter print competition. I enter each year with high hopes of doing well, and this year I was excited when my wedding print received 2nd place, and I received my Fellowship of Photography for the state of Iowa. In addition, I am very proud to say that I also go elected to be on the board for the Professional Photographers of Iowa. I am honored to have received this position and follow in the footsteps of many of the states best photographers, including my mentor, Don Knop. Below are the prints that I entered in this year's competition.
This past weekend I had the privilege of speaking at the Professional Photographers of Iowa convention in Des Moines, and I had a great time! After some brief discussion on off-camera flash, we went on mini "photo safari" in the hotel. Yes the hotel! My good friend Mackenzie was my model - below is an image we captured - can't wait to get more chances to speak in the future!
It is hard to believe Laney is 6 months already! She is developing quite the personality, too! Laney was in a couple weeks ago for her photos and had the cutest outfits - and I was able to test out one of my new backgrounds, which I now absolutely love!
